The Story Behind
For my whole life I was chasing a phantom: someone who fits all my expectations and just basically hangs in the high sky, without realizing how toxic and unhealthy this is in real life until I finally had to go through what I did lately. So this painting basically tells that I'm always going to have that "phantom" in my heart because I'm a hopeless romantic. But instead of chasing it, I have decided that I will become that person I would so fall in love with instead.
And damn that's a good feeling.
The image originated from the famous Haru Yuki (Spring Snow) by Majima Yukio, where the protagonist takes a sneak peek of his crush wearing a water-colored kimono in the middle of the waters and the bridges among her friends, but developed from that simple concept to something more abstract.
